Feeling stressed about the new school year? If so, stop by Chrysalis Salon for one of our fantastic body massages to make you feel fabulous.

Massages are usually considered part of complementary and alternative medicine. It’s gradually being offered along with standard treatment for a wide assortment of medical conditions and situations.

Studies of the benefits of massage determine that it is an effective treatment for decreasing stress, pain and muscle tension.

Although more research is necessary to confirm the benefits of massage, some studies have found massages may also be helpful for anxiety, headaches, and joint pain.

Beyond the benefits for particular conditions or diseases, some people enjoy massages because it regularly involves caring, comfort, a sense of empowerment and creating deep connections with their massage therapist.

In spite of its benefits, massage isn’t meant as a replacement for regular medical care. Let your doctor know you’re trying massage and make sure to follow any standard treatment plans you have.

Chrysalis Salon offers three massages:

European massage – Performed with oils and creams using light strokes to relax the body. This helps stimulate circulation, lowers blood pressure, and increases the lymphatic flow. This type of massage also encourages the release of endorphin’s (the body’s own natural pain relievers). This is a gentle relaxing massage.

Shiatsu massage – This type of massage re-balances energy patterns, with stretching and finger pressure throughout the body’s surface. These channels interconnect with the body’s organs. This massage opens up pathways throughout the body so energy flows freely.

Reflexology – Performed on the face, hands and feet. This massage helps rejuvenate mental, emotional and physical well-being and health by stimulating the circulatory and nervous systems. In addition to stimulating the nervous system, it promotes healing, releases tension, and increases resilience. All points connect via the nerves and meridians to particular organs and body areas.
